Reduce the Use of Plastic Bags in Vancouver!

The petition

To: Vancouver City Council

We the undersigned wish for the City of Vancouver to introduce legislature for a tax of $0.15 on disposable, single-use plastic bags. Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide, causing serious threats to the environment. We believe that the introduction of a tax on plastic bags will help create a foundation for consumer environmental responsibility and market-based solutions to environmental problems.
