i think that IndyGo should save their riders some money and replace all their deasil (and even their hybrid) buses with zero emission trolley buses since gas is becoming unpredictable and it's alot cheaper to go electric. i just don't like haveing to pay SEVEN dollars for a day pass when electric mass transit is like $2-5. Also, Even if it's from a coal plant, gas would still be WAYY more polluting since wires don't produce Co2 and to produce gasoline, - a carbon emmiting truck hasto bring the oil to a refinery - the refinery produces Carbon refining the oil into gasoline. - Then, to get the gasoline to your local station, a carbon emitting truck hasto bring it to the station and unload it. - then the cars that use it produce more C02. With producing ELECTRICITY from coal, -a train brings the coal to a power plant -the power plant produces Co2 to generate power. -The end That's IF it's not generated from wind, solar, hydroelectric, wave, tidal, geothermal, or new Nuclear. All they'd haveto do is throw up some wires while the old buses are still going and that's it. Plus, it's 90% quieter and cleaner & they could put in a backup battery like the one in the Nissan LEAF which will rarely be used unless there is an outage or it hasto go off the wires for some reason. And even then, it would still have 100 miles of battery range which is MORE then enough to go once around the city. otherwise, there wouldn't be any need to go off the wire. Even on the Circle they would either just not go on the circle or use backup battery's for the crossing.
