Rollerskating has been around for decades.  As a young child growing up in Harlem I learned to roller skate.  This sport kept us out of trouble.  I am 47 years old and I am still rollerskating, however; I have to travel to New Jersey or Long Island, New York just to roller skate which is very costly. The toll out of New Jersey is 12.00 and the toll to Long Island is 13.00 roundtrip.....senseless.  We should keep this money in our own community.  Children and adults should not be robbed of having a support that so many love to do.  Our youth should learn how to roller skate.  With childhood obesity and illnesses on the rise, it is important for our youth as well young and older adults.  I have this petition in order to support my business plan and raise eyebrows of many government officials in our city.  They do not hesitate to open ice skating rinks in NYC but never any rollerskating rinks.  Why not......let's bring rollerskating back to NYC.
