We the people residing in the City of Santa Monica and neighboring communities highly encourage the Santa Monica City Council to proactively take the steps to allow and help facilitate the
Construction of a free-standing, multi-purpose Sports Complex that includes a two-three surface ice rink facility and multiple food and gathering space for the community as well as 3 additional sports fields within the 12 acres available to the public at the Santa Monica Airport.
We the undersigned believe this facility will serve the not only the local Santa Monica community’s needs but those of the Greater Los Angeles Area needs for recreation entertainment. The facility will bring significant round-the-clock revenue to the City and provide a win/win usage for enhancing the revitalization of the Santa Monica Airport, diversify the athletic programs of Santa Monica schools, bring community involvement and enjoyment to the residents, and provide Santa Monica and surrounding neighborhood businesses with revenue. This is an exceptional opportunity for the City of Santa Monica to team up with the Los Angeles Kings and LA Galaxy to create a world-class facility to benefit the community and fill a major void of skating on the Westside of Los Angeles where we clearly need ice.
Furthermore we understand that the funding of such a facility would require a combination of sources that may include crowdfunding, city funding, major corporate funding and management. WE WILL SUBMITTED OUR Second BATCH OF SIGNATURES TO THE NEXT CITY COUNCIL MEETING when the item is on their agenda.

Playing hockey saved my life as a person. Getting to play ice hockey at culver city ice arena was my favorite place to go. It was either the beach or the rink. To have something like that in Santa Monica will help save some kids. Literally!
I live in Culver and work in Santa Monica. I currently drive up to 100 mins in traffic to play with my team in Pasadena. I'd love to have this rink built. This type of facility is vital for young people to explore different varieties of athletic activity.
I am a competitive figure skater who lost my ice when Culver closed down. Many of us can't get to work or school on time even if we skate the 6:30am session in El Segundo, thanks to traffic. We need westside ice!
The loss of the Culver City ice rink left a void in the hockey playing and recreational ice skating communities of Los Angeles, especially on the West Side. What a great opportunity for Santa Monica to fill that need, and attract ancillary spending to the area!
My kids skate and play ice hockey. We live in Brentwood and would love to make a Santa Monica ice rink our new home just as the old Santa Monica rink was my sister's ice skating home growing up. It would be a wonderful addition to the Santa Monica community.

Ice rink/sports field excellent idea! Drove my son and his hockey playing friends to El Segundo 3 or 4 time a week for years weaving down 23rd st/Walgrove/Lincoln Blvd. taking 50 minutes to an hour to get 11 miles. The west side need this!
