Most of your will remember the good old days. We had a cracking iSeries that has stood the test of time well and has helped us through lots of hard times and lots of good times. Unfortunately, due to a recent upgrade we have had to relinquish our love affair with this wonderful machine and some of it’s quirkier little programs. One of these programs was an absolute gem. Simply put, it was all about the WAJ. We all know WAJ, we’ve all had fun over the summers WAJ-ing it with F5 happily joining in the fun. We’ve all hit F10, F5 and saw our names listed at the top along with our best mate – CMD-WAJ. You’ve got to admit, WAJ has put a smile on your face at some point or other. Now comes the sob story. Due to the upgrade, WAJ has been retired and some time in July it will be completely out to pasture. That means this summer your life will be WAJ free. Just take a minute to think about that… Crazy English summers, Pimms on the lawn, running to the office after an impromptu rain shower, but no WAJ-ing it. Times will change and it will hurt. So let’s do something about it. If we can generate enough interest then I’ll raise the issue and lobby the powers that be and maybe, just maybe we may be able to make them reconsider and extend our old friends shelf life for just a little bit longer. I’m not saying it will be easy, there will be source code to analyse, programs to convert, possibly even a little Aldon action, maybe even a little bit of testing. If we can all find a little bit of time, pitch in together and get some of the IT spirit going then maybe some time after we’ve gone live with the new software we can invest some time in bringing our old mate back from the fields. I’m sure we can all cope for a short while if we have the knowledge that WAJ will be back with us soon. If you’d like to see WAJ back on the new iSeries then I’m sure we can bring the two of them together to forge a whole new, long lasting friendship and we can all enjoy the fruits of our labour. All you need to do is sign our simple petition and I can forward it to the people that make this high level decision and hopefully one day we can all enjoy WAJ sessions again.
