The Asian Long-horned Beetle, or Anoplophora glabripennis, is, according to Wikipedia, native to China, Japan, and Korea. This beautiful creature of the Orient once made the long and perilous journey across the Pacific in the inhumane conditions of solid-wood packaging material to try and make life anew in this land of opportunity. Yet the journey was not over, as it still fought on across the Rockies and the amber waves of grain to make it to the East Coast, historic home of the Pilgrims, those they vanquished, and Don Trella. Arriving in Connecticut, it came to settle with that renowned bug-enthusiast (and noted carnivore) Michael McTague. Rumor has it, however, that another non-native species, colloquially known as The Vaughan, or Filia Iohannis, now threatens our Oriental interloper. This petition, therefore, is to ask The Vaughan to cease her war against the Asian Long-horned Beetle, and that they both learn to co-exist peacefully in the verdant pastures of Hamden. We thank-you for considering signing, and remember, a signature here today is one step closer to bringing peace to a region still healing from the great Bureau/Closet Debate of 2012.
