Name: Noel Martin on Jun 2, 2011Comments: No need to down grade Brentwood fire station, save money by reducing the CFO dreams of a 'super' HQ at Kelvedon. If the money is tight don't build the extension, save the Essex taxpayers money and put it in the place were the people of Essex need (and expect) it most saving lives and property. not a nice plush office space.Flag

Name: Russell Quirk on Jun 3, 2011Comments: It is unacceptable that Essex Fire Service Senior Management are unaccountably cutting front line, full time staff to save money whilst lavishing tax payer money on hotels, drink ups and flash restaurants. There are more revelations of spending abuse to come too...Flag

When that hapens they send in Ingatestone or Romford to cover the ground so it must be strategically important. Why cut the fire cover?Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 4, 2011Comments: Retained crews are not suitable to cover a busy thriving town like Brentwood, have a look at the map Human Resources have produced for potential staff to be employed from, its not a village and you will not get a crew out in 5 minutes with the traffic around the fire station. It is also the case that high rise and RTC incidents depend on safe systems of work whereby two appliances arrive together, Brentwood attends many such calls and a delay by the turnout time of the second appliance increases risk to Firefighter safety and the safety of possible victims involved in these incidents. Retained is a system designed for villages!Flag

Name: Paul Adams on Jun 5, 2011Comments: i fully agree that cutting the front line service is a very dangerous avenue to go down. I also agree that this is not a matter of financial necessity as you quite rightly point out the money is available but being used elsewhere. Politics is a nasty business sometimes lets hope that someone somewhere see sense and changes this dreadfull decision soonFlag

Name: Barbara Woolnough on Jun 7, 2011Comments: As a former resident of Brentwood and current user of its facilities and nearby roads, in particular the M25, I feel that the removal of a full crew from Brentwood poses a serious threat to the lives of residents, visitors and passing motorists. There are other, more sensible ways, to save money.Flag

Name: Jackie Judd on Jun 8, 2011Comments: I think two fire engines should continue to be professionally crewed by full-time firefighters 24 hours a day, every day. The services offered by the fire brigade are vital and should in no way be cut. There surely must be other ways to save money which would not endanger people's lives. Brentwood fire station is close to the A12 and M25 and, for this reason alone, it is vital to save the two fire engines and full-time crews as they are often required to assist at road crash scenes, some of which can take a good part of a day to clear. That is without considering any fires which may break out during the same period of time.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jun 9, 2011Comments: Losing somebody either in a fire or road accident is bad enough, but losing somebody knowing that if a fire crew had got to them sooner, they would probably have survived, would be too much to bear. Therefore, I think it is vital that no cuts are made to Brentwood fire station.Flag

Name: Eric Lingard on Jun 9, 2011Comments: Brentwood is really suffering under the current cuts program. Quite a bit of Brentwoods responsibility has been transferred to Essex. I have already raised my concerns over what is happening in Brentwood. To reduce the fire service currently provided is absolutely ridiculous. Every day when walking to and from the High Street, I hear the Fire engines going out. If reductions are made, it could mean more risk being put upon Brentwood residents.Flag
