Name: Randye De Lorto on Aug 18, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I agree that just because a person owns a Rott, Pit Bull, Akita, or Dobie, which has never bitten, that those people should not be lumped into a barrel with other owners of the same breed whom HAVE bitten when un provoked. Each homeowner should be judged by the behavior of THEIR Dog.Flag

Name: Karen Page on Aug 18, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: Large dogs are labeled vicious because of the amount of press received when something happens. There are far more dog bites every year by small dogs than large. A dog should not be judged by what the breed is, but by how each individual dog behaves. A vicious dog is usually a product of their environment, or poor breeding. There are thousands of responsible dog owners who breed and show their dogs. They are being punished by these unjust, blanket rulings. All the show dogs, regardless of breed, have to be well behaved in order to show in the ring. Insurance companies should not be allowed to descriminate just because of a breed type.Flag

Name: Robin Stark on Aug 19, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: The insurance companies have a right to CANCEL insurance; they do NOT have a right to discriminate against specific breeds due to Old Wives Tales. Incidentally, the #1 purebred "biting" breed in America is the Cocker Spaniel. It's BAD OWNERS; never a "BAD" Breed!!!Flag

Name: Nancie Guido on Aug 19, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: There will always be responsible pet owners just as there are responsible parents. To discriminate against specific breeds is unfair to those owners who put the time and effort into training and socialization of the breed they have chosen. Please penalize irresponsible owners who don't bother to train their dogs, not those who are honorable.Flag

Name: Lori Zimmer on Aug 19, 2003State: PACountry: USComments: I am a licensed Property & Casualty agent. Breed bias does nothing to discourage the ownership of "vicious" dog breeds by the irresponsible people who allow attacks to happen; rather, it hurts those who ARE responsible owners. Those who would leave their dogs run loose, fail to socialize them properly, or train them to attack are not the type of people who would care about having liability insurance.Flag
