"They are playing games with these lands, the lands of my people." This is exactly what is happening, right now, in Brazil. The Brazilian government is pushing forward the Belo Monte Monster Dam, a massive dam that would cause huge amounts of both flooding and drought, and would destroy the lives of the thousands indigenous peoples living there – not to mention the cornucopia of plants, animals, fungus, and insects. As of February 9, 2012, over half a million signatures have been sent to Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, and thousands of people are occupying the site of destruction, steadily protesting this horrific project. BUT THE DAM IS STILL APPROVED. Obviously, on-site protests and 500,000 signatures is not a big enough wake-up call for the Brazilian governments and corporations. SO WE NEED MORE. Please, please send every thought to the Brazilian rainforest, and help permanently halt the construction of this atrocity.
