I'm not sure if you guys are aware or which of you it affects but the bus pass referendum that was passed for next year doesn't apply to us Brantford students, even if we live in Hamilton and the HSR has refused to allow us to opt-in. Every student that attends the Fennell campus will be paying for this service whether they use it or not. I don't see why those of us who live in Hamilton shouldn't be able to opt-in to paying this fee. The current cost of a monthly pass is $87 dollars, therefore the cost of having a pass for the school year would be $696. The cost of the pass for the Fennell students which will be added to their tuition will be approximately $243.60. That's a difference of $452.40. Those of us who have to take the shuttle to Brantford everyday already have to pay $400 each semester to do so. In total, our cost of transit each year is roughly $1496! If we were able to opt-in, we'd be saving almost $500 a year. I think if you live in the City of Hamilton and you're attending any of the Mohawk campuses, you should be able to take advantage of this. All this being said, I want to take this to the MSA and get them to try to get this changed before September.
