Medical science has progressed over the last ten years and there are now many more survivors with severe brain injuries. Sadly the NHS financial support and funding for ongoing care and rehabilitation is often poor and can be a struggle to obtain. We, the Brain Injury Group (www.braininjurygroup.org.uk) feel that it is time the government took notice of our plight. You are able to read our personal stories on our site – you will read how our families have struggled and are still struggling to provide for our loved ones’ ongoing health care and rehabilitation. Having a severe brain injury is an expensive medical dilemma for experts – we are not experts we are families – our loved ones have survived against the odds, they deserve better care in the future. The future requires: • Secure funding – PCT funding is a variable which continues to worry every one of us • Guidelines for specialist brain injury hospital care • Criteria for ongoing treatment and care • More specialist brain injury hospitals • More specialist brain injury rehabilitation units If you feel, as we do, that the government needs to immediately discuss and address please sign our petition.
