High school is a time for retaining knowledge and carefully choosing the career you wish to in bark on and complete the courses required for Universities and Colleges. How can your grades be at a high level for post secondary when you're to busy filling out pointless sheets upon sheets containing mandatory questions to fill out such as "Have you had your daily requirement of starch". Would anyone remember that in five, ten years down the line It is a ridiculous plan and response to the business worlds need for "job ready people". The BC Ministry of Education has made it a requirement to: a)"maintain a personal health plan and participate in at least 80 hours of moderate to vigorous physical activity, in addition to PE10." b)"Participate in at least 30 hours of work experience and/or community service and describe what was learned." c)"Complete a transition plan and present significant accomplishments." It really is so simple as to just not go to grad transition. How can it not work We as students are the essential sustenance of this program, without our existence in the classroom it simply can't work. We're quite certain that if we get (and hopefully we do) as many students as possible to come protest the school board won't fail the greater majority of the grade 11 population. It's quite insulting that this grad transition program was thrown onto us without even the slightest form of 'democracy' (i.e. making it an ELECTIVE; if we need help with our future, we'll come to you. if not, we won't) If you do not wish to protest because you find it a waste of your time, all we ask you to do is sleep in.. don't go... make yourself an extra bowl of cereal in the morning and come back for first block. If we boycott grad transition they may get rid of it. If they don't, we don't have much to lose. We're going to spend that time anyway since we're alive so we may as well spend it protesting/boycotting grad transition. It really is the most sincerely primitive method of getting your way: whine and don't go to grad trans. Also, we have heard from the principal (vice principal) of Burnaby South (Ordonez) that the requirements are changing for next year...
