The policies and practices of Gamestop in regards to the handling of used games is atrocious. In almost every way the consumer is getting ripped off for choosing to sell back to Gamestop, and there seems to be no intent to change. The problem here however is not 'how do we convince Gamestop to change', because Gamestop is profit-oriented; they can and will find the best way to make profit for themselves, and they have no reason to respond to any consumer demands so long as the market supports them. There is no case to be made to officials, and there is no point in talking to the source, 'so how' you may ask will we change the way Gamestop is ripping us off on our used games? We make the market no longer support their system. How we do this is simple; we control the supply and demand. If Gamestop has no used games to sell, then their supply runs dry and they must choose to buy additional games from manufacturers instead. If Gamestop isn't selling used games then they no longer get unmonitored profit directly into their pockets. I ask that everyone who signs here( and any acquaintances you can convince) will neither sell or buy any used games with Gamestop until they can genuinely satisfy you with what they offer. This petition is not meant to go to any person at Gamestop; this is my call to action to you: the consumer. If you sign this petition I don't ask that you stop shopping at Gamestop entirely; for some that would mean Boycotting games as whole. No, I simply ask that everyone who signs this will boycott buying and selling used games from Gamestop. Buying new games is fine (and supports the companies making them!), and selling your games in any other way is fine too. This is meant to shift the money in the used games industry away from Gamestop and into the hands of the consumers. When the free market becomes a force that competes directly with Gamestop, they will be forced to adapt and will have to use genuine deals and incentives to pull us back in. To anyone who has trouble selling their games outside of Gamestop I would urge you to show restraint before returning to them, and even go so far as to wait out the duration of this boycott. It may take a year, it may take 5, but eventually Gamestop will realize the errors in their ways.
