This petition supports mass consumer boycotts of all corporations which fail to provide live human customer service in support of the products or services they sell. For example, my company recently spent ten days unsuccessfully attempting to contact my ISP company to have them come out and fix our Fios line so that we could stay in business. During this entire time, making several telephone calls and sending numerous emails daily, we received not a single response from a living human being who could help us with our very costly and frustrating problem. Instead we received one computer simulated vocal phone tree after another, whenever we called by telephone, one completely unresponsive "chat line" cursor line, and no emails whatsoever from the customer service department. Obviously we had no choice but to cancel our service and find a new ISP. But switching high-speed ISPs is no easy accomplishment. It is now a month since we first lost service and the new ISP has still not installed their alternative technology, even if they do answer their telephone, at least if one is willing to wait a half hour or so. Online retailers also are notorious for providing little to no live human customer service. In fact, in our survey over half of them do not even list a customer support telephone number anywhere on their website, and often provide no online support either, at least beyond providing a list of hundreds of previous "questions" they have received and what they deem to be the correct "answers" to these questions, answers which are often completely out of date, unclear or simply wrong. Signers of this petition thus seek to apply pressure upon such customer-contempuous companies -- some of which are huge and could easily afford to provide live human customer service -- by refusing to purchase any of their products and services until such time as one can readily verify that it is always possible to speak to a well-informed, living, breathing human customer services representative, who will either help you solve your problem themselves, or, when necessary, refer you to someone else in the company who can do so.
