we actually did it and the street is officially going to be named borinqueneers way. im honestly so happy that the legacy of the 65th infantry is finally getting this recognition here in el barrio. thanks to everyone who put their name on this because it totally worked.
We, the undersigned wish to honor the legacy of the 65th Infantry Regiment “Borinqueneers” (pronounced Bow-Ring-Ken-Nears) with a street naming ceremony on East 102nd Street and Lexington Avenue- El Barrio, New York City to “Borinqueneers Way”.
Borinqueneers, hombres humildes y valerosos . Muy merecido aunque tardío reconocimiento. Me alegra q mi padre pudo recibirlo a sus 88 años.

This would be a blessing and and honor to have known the work and sacrifices the Borinqueneers did during WWI, WW2 , and the Korean War.My support goes full in this effort.

A conaming in el barrio is necessary and proper as el barrio is home to the second largest concentration of Borinqueneers in the country. The first being Puerto Rico.

Recordando a todos los Boricuas que han servido en las Fuerzas Armadas de Los Estados Unidos Americano esto sería un grand tributo a todos ellos. Gracias a los que están al frente de esta iniciativa.

I truly had the honor & pleasure of preforming our Bomba cultural music for five surviving Borincaneers in Orlando Florida last year. They truly filled the ceremony with true Pride & Honor in their presence.

I am all for recognizing any outstanding fighting unit. I also respect their stand down protest initiatiated by an inept continental officer. Other units did the same when they felt conditions warranted decisive action yet they were not punished. Glad the Borinqueneers were exonerated. Just for the record I am an Italian American who grew up and worked in Brooklyn NY and would have appreciated knowing about these patrons while living there.
