Name: KERSI M POONIWALA on Nov 3, 2012Comments: THIS IS TOTALLY WASTE OF MONEY, THE BIRDS WILL NOT LAST MORE THAN 5-7 YEARS. BEST WAY IS TO BUILD A CREMETORIUM, DO IIJASHNY AS WE DO FOR ATASH PATSHA IN ANY NEW FIRETEMPLE AND DISPOSE THE ASHES IN THE TOWER OF SILENCE, THERE WILL BE NO DECAY, NO INFECTION AND NO DAMAGE TO ENVIRONMENT. IT IS HIGH TIME WE MUST CHANGE TO WHAT IS POSSIBLE PRACTICALLY IN TODAY WORLD. 75% ZORASHTRIANS HAVE OPTED FOR CREMATION INCLUDING MYSELF AND MY ALL FAMILY. WHO WANTS TO LAY THERE AND LET CROWS AND PEGEONS PLAY WITH YOUR BODY PARTS. IT IS VERY EMBARASSING TO SEE SUCH FILTHY SITUATION, SPECIALLY IN MONSOONS IT REALLY STINKS. HOPE SOME SCHOLARS COME TO SENCES AND THINK IN RIGHT DIRECTION. 25 CRORES IS NOT A SMALL AMOUNT, IT CAN ACCOMODATE QUITE FEW NEW COUPLES TI INCREASE OUR POPULATION. IT WILL BE VERY WISE TO THINK AND WORRY FOR THOSE WHO ARE ALIVE RATHER THAN WORRY ABOUT THE DEAD, IF OUR POPULATION GOES REDUCING EACH YEAR WHAT GOOD WILL ALL THIS VULTURE CULTURE DO !!!!! MAY GOD GIVE SATHBUDDHI TO OUR DECISSION MAKERS.Flag

Name: Firoze Hirjikaka on Nov 3, 2012Comments: Religious scriptures and tenets are not cast in stone. They are meant to adapt to the times we live in. We rightly criticise fundamental muslims for rigidly sticking to centuries-old strictures like amputating hands of theives and so on. They need to take cognisance of modern society and so do we. The plain fact is that the dokhmenshaini system is just not practical in a crowded metroplois like Bombay. The traditional practice followed by our Zoroastrian ancestors of leaving dead bodies on the open slopes of hills was a practical and environmentally friendly method of disposal in an era when open spaces were freely available. That is not the case in Bombay. Besides, hundreds of our Parsi brethren living abroad and in small towns in India have been buried for decades. Does that mean that their souls have a more difficult journey into the next life? We need to be less rigid and more practical. Just follow Zarathustra's tenets of good thoughts, good words and good deeds and He will be more than pleased with your efforts. Trust me.Flag

"The aim of this online petition is to inform the BPP Trustees the sentiments of the community not to squander money on such an experiment and instead utilize this amount for betterment of the living members of the community and assist in more births amongst the Parsees."Flag

Name: Farzana A. Cooper on Nov 4, 2012Comments: Some zoroastrians think they are doing charity by letting vultures feed on our dead bodies like their ancestors used to believe....However, the times have changed. Today we are prescribed 'Pain killers' by our doctors to give us relief from pain... these Pain killers contain high concentration of Diclofenac drug in them...This drug may be harmless to us, but the traces of it found in dead bodies eaten by vultures affects their kidneys and causes them to die... Die a miserable slow death ...Far from the concept of 'Charity' we are actually killing the vultures by forcing them to feed on the dead just because some book says so. The book that says so, was written eons ago when there were no pain killers...Therefore blindly applying the book knowledge in today's scenario can be counter effective. Besides Z'ism is not about 'Blind following' any book its all about using rationality and logic to make choices... So the book may be right for its time, our ancestors may be right too for their times, yet following them blindly in times that have changed drastically can give counter results....specially for the environment.Flag

Name: Perci Patel on Nov 4, 2012Comments: WAPIZ members want an Aviary so very desperately as is apparent from the publicity they give then they be allowed by BPP to do so by leasing one dakhma on rent to be paid by WAPIZ. The cost of Aviary should be borne by WAPIZ only. The Funds of the Trust are for entire community and NOT WAPIZ members alone. This will put an end to controversy and endless propaganda which is a source of amusement to other communities.Flag

We have to pay Capitation Fees under different nomenclatures for higher studies. Our elders (majority of Bombay Parsees are over fifty in age) They cannot afford medical treatement for various ailments. Are Punchayat Funds only for ceremonies of those who are no longer in this World.?Flag

Ban only made the duo Priests more famous and even foreign media /press have given coverage. Why the proponents of Aviary cannot clearly spell out in writing that additional diet of animal flesh will not be required by the Birds. Only an imbecile would say so.Flag

Name: Bapsy Sidhva on Nov 4, 2012Comments: Just as Khaps have derision for education so have these sitting Trustees of B.P.P. To them Aviary for consuming dead gets precedence over helping youngsters shine out in academics. The bed fees in hospitals go on increasing, prices of medicines shoot up and many retired persons cannot foot medical expenses. And here we have prodigals wanting to spend crores like water thinking that it would fetch them votes in 2015. That is their vision but they will realize that it was a myopia thirty months henceFlag

Rather than spending money to raise vultures in an aviary, consider alternate means to dispose of the departed Zarthostis. Please reconsider and utilize the money in ways that will promote the welfare, vibrancy, growth and prosperity of our community.Flag
