| 556 | Mahira | Its one thing to have college students and politicians take out protests, its another when a professor disrespects a head of state because of propaganda and pressure |

| 560 | Sonia MIstry | As a SIPA alum, I wrote to you, President Bollinger, to express support for Columbia's decision to invite the President of Iran despite the controversy. I was proud that the university was so willing to support debate. Your introduction, however, was NOT an attempt to encourage debate, but rather a true injustice to open discussion. |
| 561 | Anonymous | Nobody could affirm the actions Ahmadinejad executes in his country. However, this does not give a person, especially a person in the presidency chair of a prestigious university, the right to insult a president of an independent country of the world. Please act in accordance with what the notion of "a country with free speech" requires. |

| 583 | Anonymous | It was totally discorteous and disrespectful. He is a professor and should not behave like this.I think he should resign from the post of president. |
| 584 | Alena Tansey | As someone who grew up in the U.S. State Department world, I was often exposed to how difficult it was for my father to dialogue with leaders with whom he deeply disagreed. However, it was always his imperative to treat others with human dignity and respect and that U.S. Foreign Policy is best served by always having a platform for dialogue. There is always room for decorum and respect--even if you are faced with your worst enemy.
Best,
Alena Tansey

If you have invited him you are religiously bound to accord him all the respect, whether he deserves it or not is immaterial. Instead you chose to insult and disgrace him which goes against the good character and morality of, even a simple human being leave aside as a Principal of a recognized University |

| 587 | Anonymous | Your introductory remarks were inappropriate when it involves a head of state. You might be a president of a university but your personal values should not represent an institution's. Your remarks violated the very backbone of the freedom of speech that this country stands for |

But as a member of academic community, I also believed that President Bollinger's rude and disrespectful introductory remarks disgraced the spirit of academic exchange. I also demand proper explanation and resolution to this issue. |
