| 468 | Aref Adamali | It was just too aggressive. Such posturing was inelegant, unprofessional and unfair. And it was more a speech than an introduction. Equivalent to making a statement when you are supposed to ask a question. So annoying (though very SIPA).
As for: "As future diplomats we will undoubtedly be tasked with repairing damage that remarks like yours cause" - not so likely. On both the damage repair and future diplomats. But best of luck. |

| 483 | Alex Gourevitch | I felt President Bollinger's words were based largely on ignorance about Iran, and did not take seriously the opportunity to engage President Ahmadinejad in a serious discussion. Instead, he presented this 'free speech' event as an opportunity to confront Evil. This was counterproductive, and made Bollinger and Coatsworth, rather than Ahmadinejad, seem like the intolerant, uneducated, and 'freedom-hating' ones. Moreover, it meant all of the interesting questions, about the democratic movement in Iran, the lack of truly free elections, the structure of Iran's government, and so on, were left unasked, not to mention unanswered. |
