Initially, this petition is to inquire how many Canadians feel it should be a human right for individuals to modify their body (tattoos, piercings, etc) without prejudice in society or the workplace. Although tattoos, piercings and other body modifications are more commonplace in today's society, individuals or participants as a group are discriminated against based on their appearance. Moving forward, if there is enough support on this issue, it could be taken all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada, to modify or amend the Human Rights Code of Canada to include SELF-EXPRESSION (body modification), with a stipulation that the expression does NOT violate any other part of the code (ie racist, sexist) or impede physically with employment. As we all know, we can work just as hard with tattoos and piercings... we just don't want to be fired because of them. WHETHER OR NOT YOU PARTICIPATE IN BODY MODIFICATIONS, PLEASE JOIN OUR GROUP PETITION - SELF-EXPRESSION THAT DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH ANYONE ELSE'S WAY OF LIFE SHOULD NOT BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST.
