Bob W. Hargis on the Unity08 ticket

The petition

Bob W. Hargis desires to be on the ballot as a 2008 Independent Presidential candidate in every state. Ballot access laws are unfair to independents and minor party candidates. The ballot access system has been so designed as to practically eliminate independents from having a reasonable chance to be included in the ballots of most states. Due to the complex state by state filing requirements and fees, and the unrealistic signature requirements, even the best funded candidate will likely fail to accomplish the goal of being on all of the ballots. Overcoming these odds will require the help of an organization whose intent is to support an independent candidate with a network of nationwide volunteers. Unity08 has publicly declared their intention to be that organization. Bob’s goal is to be included in the online Primary to be conducted by the Unity08 organization in 2008.

In the interest of allowing a presidential candidate such as Bob to overcome these inequitable odds, and in consideration of the organization he is attempting to align with to meet this goal, we the undersigned hereby state to the “Founders Counsel” of the Unity08 organization, which is the governing body of that organization, and to any other interested parties, that we desire to see Bob W. Hargis on the ballot for Unity08’s first ever online primary election to be held in 2008. Furthermore, it is our desire to see Bob Hargis run as a candidate for President of the United States of America in the November 2008 general election, as is his right as an American citizen.
