AnonymousNO WAY !
Guo Sheng TeoBanning Boas and Pythons from being transported to and within the united states isn't a good move. The economy is going to be impacted by the loss of people buying equipment for Snake cages. there is a miniature economy within the Snake Keeping hobby that in turns fuels the US economy. wipe that out and the country will fall into a recession that much quicker.

Vernon SpinasThat would be a real shame if that happened.
shauna thomasI think there should be no band what so ever on venomous snakes mabey buy on boas, pythons , corn snakes , etc.. I really disagree . They are no harm what so ever and Alot of people including my self has herps as a hobby . I have three sons and they love them so much and love learning about them . I really disagree.
Noah Robinsonthis is rediculous, the fact that they would ban all reptile keeping in the U.S. is crazy. think of the ppl who keep them as pets who are responsible for keeping them healthy. let me tell u one thing, if there is a nationwide ban, i will see you in canada.

kandiThis is crazy what ever happened too the freedom of choice. The right too make decisions based on free will. It will do no good to ban boas and pythons in the united states due too the fact that most people have them as pets. By banning them it shows a lack of trust in your fellow americans which makes them wonder how they should want too trust the law makers. It also makes people want too rebel and break the law too own them anyway.

AnonymousI am very much against this proposal.

Patrick Orion KimbroughThis is ridiculous, there is no reason to ban interstate trade of animals that, aside from possibly 2 states in the US, cannot survive for long. These animals mostly require high temperatures and humidity in order to stay alive and could not survive the night if it were only 60 degrees. Not to mention that a lot of these species are non-migratory, and would not seek to go south to keep warm but would stay where ever they felt safest, with little regard for the temperature until it would be too late. The entire exotic industry will be harmed by this if it passes, including many businesses that produce safe caging supplies, food, etc for these animals, no doubt millions of dollars in tax revenue will be lost if this is passed, all because of the larger animals being found in ecosystems that are now imposing permits and registration for said animals. The states already mostly have it covered and this is overkill, why should the northern states (who could barely have these animals survive a summer night let alone thrive year round or be given close to enough time to move the thousand miles to an adequate climate ) suffer for the past mistakes of the southern states? And more so than the supply producers, this will hurt the breeders, some of whom pull in hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly by selling these animals, money that they do, in fact, declare on their taxes, spend on supplies and new herps, and, in general, put right back into the economy. This would hurt not only the breeders, the suppliers of food and husbandry equipment, but also: Companies that produce the food FOR the animals fed to the reptiles. Home Improvement Stores who supply equipment used in the production of husbandry equipment (racks and cages, for example) and who produce items needed to insulate snake rooms, seal them, keep them warm through heating, etc. Pet Stores who will no longer gain profit off of feeding rodents, as well as the reptiles themselves, cages, etc. As well as many other groups This will have far reaching effects on an already poor economy, and passing this will bring no good. As a side note many of the animals suggested to be restricted do not grow very large and pose no threat to pets (aside from rodents) or people. They are all non-venomous and aside from the extreme cases (the ones I do support certain restrictions on, namely registration of ownership, microchip implantation, and permits to own) can not hurt humans, the environment in non-tropical areas, the economy, or really anything else. By passing this you are crushing the hearts of everyone in the reptile culture for now and for generations to come. Please, please do not let this pass.
Samuel WagnerPlease refuse the ban on pythons and boas. Many private keepers and business are involved in herpetoculture. The myth that this will squash feral populations in Florida is simply a myth. Florida is home to many feral animals including dangerous dogs and cats. This is something the state needs to deal with and hopefully the new laws they passed will help greatly. A larger epidemic affecting the entire united states is the feral mammal populations, yet reptiles are singled out simply because of decades or past prejudices. If you feel this law must pass, then I am certain reptile enthusiast around the country will be getting lawyers and quickly turn this into an ugly situation. Recently a private keeper sold a snake for 35,000 dollars to a zoo, this shows there are responsible keepers who have the money and contacts to make this very ugly in court. Please reconsider feral reptiles like any other feral pest and by state legislature and not federal since it does not affect the entire country like that of feral mammal populations.
AnonymousI am totally against the ban and as a reptile AND amphibian owner I am devasted to hear this!!!

Chad HanbyI have loved snakes all my life and it is a load of crap that the USFW is trying to take my love away
Joshua Dickersonfirst off, the ban is ignorant.your not banning venomous reptiles are pit bulls, people are allowed to own tigers with permits, and many other dangerous wildlife....so why pythons?some do get large, but by doing this you will also outlaw things like anthill pythons that get about a foot long and couldnt hurt a flea.the reason people get injured is because of ignorance, stupidity lack of knowledge.i can almost guarantee the people voting for this have never been around these wonderful creatures and have no experience with them to know what they are talking about in the first place.you people need to educate yourselves on this subject besides reading about the occasional person dying.when cared for properly, these snakes can be the most rewarding pets to have.the ban is absolutely unneccesary and should not be passed.this is all i have done all my life, work with pythons and breed them.this is how i make a living and its a way of life for me and many many others.so aside of taking something that millions of people love and do everyday, your also causing people jobs as well.like i said,me and many others do this for work.so your also taking food out of childrens mouths, making people unable to pay bills.not everyone has a backup plan, for some, this is all they know...and have a heart people.if nothing else, require a permit.in the state of texas i am required to own a permit for possessing and selling.i have both and ALWAYS make sure they are updated.the majority of us are responsible and mature with these magnificient creatures.though there are the occasional few.Another thing is,uneducate parents buying there kid a baby burmese when they know nothing about them, the parents nor the child.i refuse to sell a snake such as a burmese rock reticulated python anaconda or anything of that nature to minors...i like to know people have the means to take care of them and have sufficient space and knowledge on them before hand.i dont know if this helped or if there is something else i should add,but im going to leave it at this for now...it is our right to own these pets, dont take that away from us....thank you for your time.
