| 257 | Margo Miller | Regarding the Injurious Wildlife Species; Review of Information Concerning Constrictor Snakes From Python, Boa, and Eunectes genera.
I myself own two Ball Pythons these are the sweetest animals that I have ever come in contact with and are not a danger to anyone. A Dog or cat would do more far more damage to a person. These snake ever could. They are a part of my family I'm sure everyone that owns a snake thinks of them as their babies. I don't know anything else except my snake I see them as a norm and I love them dearly.
Please reconsider this ban.
Sincerely,
Margo Miller |
Chris Ahrens | Ha! I thought this was supposed to be a free country? How about controlling all the cats running around my neighborhood? They eat a lot more native wildlife than any pet snakes ever thought of!

Brad Chambers | A terrible idea. This proposed rule would have profound and far-reaching negative affects on businesses and consumers, without any appreciable benefit to ecosystems beyond that of regulations already in place.

lindsey roberts | please do not ban these reptiles, they are very good pets and some people make a living off of this. Plus people that sell rodents and supplies would also be put out. Please dont punish everyone just because of one persons mistakes.
Diane Meeks | We are also snake and repitle owners and have found them to be great for people that have little time for a dog or cat but want to have a pet. They are really wonderful and those that do have repitles are very gentle people.
trixie dotson | Just ridiculous. My snakes are not a threat to anyone, nor would I allow them to become one. This is unfair to those of us who are responsible pet owners!

keith darnold | Important to my work, and enjoyment. I work in an exotic pet store.
Brian Whitaker | Seems to me to be a reactionary bill due to all the bad press(granted the situation is real and should be dealt with) in regards to the burms and other exotics in Florida. It should be emphasized that the problem is in FLORIDA and that escaped exotics liek burms or ball pythons really could not impact wildlife in most of the United States due to the fact that they cannot survive the winters. Hopefully this will be realized and something with be done about the FLORIDA problem and those of us who are responsible keepers living in the rest of the country will not have to pay the price.

Frank Wood | This is absurd! A pet is a pet. Bees can sting you perhaps there should be a ban on harvesting honey! You cannot let a few owners who decide to make a bad decision turn the hobby as a whole. There are extremly large numbers of people who turn cats loose un-spayed or nuetered to the streets to breed and overpopulate. Ban cats!
Dustin Cartwright | I think the idea is a good one but not focusing on the details and the affects.
Jessica Alday |
Matt Farley | Terrible idea.
Michael Daniels |
Alfredo C Veloso | As not only an importer but breeder of all species of boids, this kind of blanket legislation will effectively put me out of business. We find this to be unwarranted as there is no place other than south florida where populations where these species are found ferally. As noted in your legislation this came about due to a request by the SFWMD and the state of florida already took action by passing permit issues for the problematic species. This form of ban will only make these species be traded on the black market versus openly with and by permited individuals
Mike Smith | I am a wholesaler in Texas and as far as i am concerned this will be a restraint of trade and we CANNOT sit quietly and let it happen!! Snake keeping is a fun and educational hobby for adults and children alike, they are destroying a tradition and a culture!!!!
Jill M. Harrell |
Bridgette | These pets should not be banned. I know that some people don't care for them, and release them into the wild, however people do that with dogs to are you goning to ban them too.
steve | Their are many boa and pythons species that shounld not be even thought about in the act . Think about what it will do to the pet shops who rely on reptile sales to keep them in business these days, schools programs teaching with reptiles ,which are many of them , You are treading a topic that is willing to fight and fight and fight for the love of reptiles and our rights.
Tom McDowell | As a Pet Store that only purchases captive baby pythons & Boas, we feel that putting more restictions on the importation would eventually be tragic to the animals.

Anonymous | i think that it is up to the people to understand that it is up to them to own a pet not the government we should all have the right for boas and pythons if we chose that kind of pet we should understand the responsibly of this kind of pet but it should be up to us i own 2 snake and i am a person that will always one reptiles it is my right not someone in the government so i say we should fight for something you believe in .
Cody Brett Bartolini | There is nothing that I can say that hasn't already been said, so I will save my breath. But what I can say is; I definitely do not support the importation and interstate transport ban on all Boids (Boa's and Python's).
heidi | snakes make wonderful pets, i have a sweet red-tailed boa!
Jeff Hartwig | This proposed ban would cripple and significantly do harm to the reptile industry. The rights of responsible owners are being violated. We need to address specific problems, not create blanket laws that serve no beneficial purpose and cause harm to thousands of well meaning keepers.
Jeffrey W. Campbell | It's a sad day that the U.S.F.&Wildlife seeks to ban the ownership of any animal, be it reptiles or any other animal, almost sounds like PETA, why don't they just remove all pets from ownership, dogs and cats included. I personally don't own any of these breeds of snakes but have friends who do and enjoy them just as much as their dogs and cats. As has already been stated, Florida is doing what it needs to do to restrict sales of certain breeds and I respect that because releasing animals into a non-native envirement is wrong and anyone caught doing it should be punished, but don't punish the thousands of responsible pet owners.
Tim Nance | This is a radiculous bill. This will hurt so many legitimate businesses, and will destroy the snake trade. Please dont pass this bill.
