The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has made a significant move towards banning the importation and interstate transport of Boa Constrictors and Pythons in the United States. Quietly published in the Federal Register, the agency is accepting public comments until April 30th. If enacted this will devastate an already hard hit industry, dealing a fatal death blow to a large number of businesses dependent on this segment of the industry and drying up the supply of these pets to pet owners across the United States. To review the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposal, please look at the following document http://kingsnake.com/FWSReview.pdf Please go to http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/mainmain=SubmitComment&o=09000064803a565f to submit your comments to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regarding this proposal before April 30th. Joshua Dickerson, United Kingdom5 years ago Comments: first off, the ban is ignorant.your not banning venomous reptiles are pit bulls, people are allowed to own tigers with permits, and many other dangerous wildlife....so why pythonssome do get large, but by doing this you will also outlaw things like anthill pythons that get about a foot long and couldnt hurt a flea.the reason people get injured is because of ignorance, stupidity lack of knowledge.i can almost guarantee the people voting for this have never been around these wonderful creatures and have no experience with them to know what they are talking about in the first place.you people need to educate yourselves on this subject besides reading about the occasional person dying.when cared for properly, these snakes can be the most rewarding pets to have.the ban is absolutely unneccesary and should not be passed.this is all i have done all my life, work with pythons and breed them.this is how i make a living and its a way of life for me and many many others.so aside of taking something that millions of people love and do everyday, your also causing people jobs as well.like i said,me and many others do this for work.so your also taking food out of childrens mouths, making people unable to pay bills.not everyone has a backup plan, for some, this is all they know...and have a heart people.if nothing else, require a permit.in the state of texas i am required to own a permit for possessing and selling.i have both and ALWAYS make sure they are updated.the majority of us are responsible and mature with these magnificient creatures.though there are the occasional few.Another thing is,uneducate parents buying there kid a baby burmese when they know nothing about them, the parents nor the child.i refuse to sell a snake such as a burmese rock reticulated python anaconda or anything of that nature to minors...i like to know people have the means to take care of them and have sufficient space and knowledge on them before hand.i dont know if this helped or if there is something else i should add,but im going to leave it at this for now...it is our right to own these pets, dont take that away from us....thank you for your time.
