52 Paul DundonTo offer this extended warranty in the USA and not the UK is discriminatory in the extreme. If the problem is uncommon anyway, the cost to BMW will be minimal. 53 Reza RamI have had this fault on my Mini for more than a year now and am grateful to have found this petition through word of mouth. In our case the light was triggered by the pregnant missus needing to adjust the driver's seat differently to me. After moving the seat twice, the light came on and the airbags have been disabled ever since. It's a manufacturing problem with serious safety repercussions. I am baffled why BMW have taken full responsibility in the States but prefer to play games with their customers' safety in Europe.

55 benjamin middletoni told my bmw garage about my constant airbag warning light and they told me it would be £161 an hour just to check the fault. is this not a great way of cashing in on a common fault?!? this country should (and this is the first time i think i'll ever say this) learn from the americans. Their mini dealers are fixing this fault for free, for cars less than than 10 years old.

Unfortunatly my car is now out of warrenty and my local dealer is charging in excess of £150 to have this recognised fault dealt with for the 4th time on my car. MINI One March 02

60 nigel waitei have a 2002 52 plate cooper the date today is 05/03/07 and I have had the light come on for the 1st time about 1 and a half years ago I contacted my local dealer Sytner of Nottingham who didn't want to know. They said I could pay for them to test for the problem at 1 hrs labour and then pay to fix it. I contacted a respectable garage who had the equipment to test it, they asked for no fee and charged £40 to fix the problem....wiring under the passenger seat they said. This was ok for a few months and same again. I then had a repeat for a 3rd time before the end of 2006.......the light is still on. I am extremely annoyed to hear of the better treatment in the USA.
61 JULIA CONWAYMy Mini cooper has been in numerous times with air bag warning light on. I have been told there is a problem with the wiring under the passenger seat which becomes detatched when moving seat. My warranty is now out. It will cost me next time.

63 Barry LucasMy 02 Mini has been returned to the dealer 5 times with airbag warning light problems. This has now become a regular feature of my Mini owhership every 8 months. The problem has alternated between passenger and drivers seat. Other family members own 04 and 05 Minis and they have not experienced the this fault.

65 James DillonHad it in my old MINI Cooper and the harness was replaced under warranty. I now have a secondhand Cooper S with the problem as it was never dealt with under warranty so now I'd have to pay to get it rectified.
66 AnonymousYes, this needs to be done. It's a known problem with the car and needs to be covered by an extended warranty. Get it sorted BMW!!!

71 anthony burrowesHi All I own a 02 minicooper and have had my air bag light come on and repaired twice, the first time under warranty the second time i had to pay for labour and now after reclining the passenger seat the the light has come on again after 6 months. this time they want to charge me the full monty for puting in right. A friend who works for the BBC on Watchdog said they would be very intrested in this problem if enough people write into them as this is a safety issue that BMW are aware of.

74 AnonymousYesterday (04/04/07) taking the car for a second journey the air bag warning light suddenly illuminated. Not had it looked at yet but i don,t think it will come cheap. It will not be the only thing they are keeping onwers in the dark about, i.e the dodgy light leveling motors on early models.

77 aurorai have a 52 reg mini cooper today i have just been ripped off for 51 pounds at sytner nottingham for them to tell me its going to cost me another 200 pounds to get this airbag warning light off . do they think we are stupid ?
78 Ian Saward2002 Mini Cooper Airbag Warning light on for one year now. Reset it (££) and takes about two days to come back on. Bought from Paragon Hull as BMW Approved in Nov 2003.

Now happened again after a further year - clearly not fixed and currently talking to Mini about what they are going to do about it!
80 Kara LaingDo UK lives count less than US lives? I have had this issue repeatedly in my 5 year ownership, causing me hours and mile sof inconvenience, with no recompense. In fact, this time the servicing department have been overtly rude to me. I paid a prestige price for a prestige vehicle and prestige service - last time I'll buy a BMW!

82 Dave RobinsonMini Cooper was 4 years old when Airbag fault light came up and was reset by Williams Liverpool only to reappear 2 weeks later. Car was bought privately at 3yrs old. Still covered by TLC is being serviced &hopefully repaired next week

85 Patricia LucasI have owned my mini for 5 years (02 reg) and it has been returned 6 times "officially" to have the air bag warning light fixed. These were one day jobs. On one other occasion,when the car was new, the repair was done while I waited. Until 4 years had passed it was repaired under warranty and in Oct 06 I paid for parts only as a good will gesture. However in March this year I paid 124 pounds and the car is going in again on 18th May. I do not know if I will have to pay again. I have contacted BMW UK but received little satisfaction.
86 Carl FORDWithin 5 months of purchasing a used Mini 02 plate airbag warning light came on It was repaired by Lind Norwich.10 monthjs on the light has come on again. On each occassion it has been identified as a problem with the seat belt tensioners and wiring loom.I'm hoping it will be repaired under warranty as the same fault has happened within 12 months.Why is this covered in the US and not in the UK. Customer Service is obviously a low priority this side of the pond.

100 JM LittmanCount yourselves lucky - my passenger airbag went off , during normal driving - no accident, no impact. BMW refuse to replace it !
