| 1 | David Hopkinson | Told me they could change the wiring loom for the airbag, but i'd have to pay for the pre-tensioners. What a JOKE! |
| 2 | Anonymous | Consumer rights given to those in the USA should be made available to all, especially in the context of safety related issues . |

| 8 | Kevin Watts | originally fixed under warranty at Sewell Bishiop Stortford N/s Front Airbag Loom). Light appeared after 3 months, reaird eventually at Henry Bros Glasgow (Belt Tensioner) and charged £120.00 (out of so called Warranty). Went again after about 3 months. Checked at Murkets Huntingdon and now Belt ensioner and air bag loom to be repaired. Mini customer services very arrogant. I want £120.00 back and repaired free of charge |
| 9 | Nathan James | My airbag light came on just before i set off for a 2 hr drive to cardif... booked my car in for a window motor replacement! (another common fault) and come out with my air bag light off even though the staff at my local dealership told me the light was on.... two days later after having one passenger in the back with one movement of the seat the light came back on again! this is rediculous and my dealership said that i would have to pay full price then put in for a good will claim... that will not get my money back for their fault! |

| 14 | Anonymous | The last couple of times, the light has only stayed off for a couple of weeks, so don't bother with it any longer, but the warning light is a constant reminder that there is a problem |
| 15 | Simon Richards | |
| 16 | Andy Murray | Was charged £150 by Rydales Wolverhampton to have this fixed only to find the U.S customers are covered for free!!!!!!! |
| 17 | Barry Stanley | I've suffered the passenger seat airbag warning light known issue and had to pay for the fix as car, owned from new, is out of warranty. BMW should be forced to explain why the USA gets a warranty extension on this and the UK doesn't? |
| 18 | nicky budzynski | my airbag light has been repaired 3 times (everytime has been an apparent different fault). my airbag light is on now but i refuse to pay for it to be fixed. |

| 20 | mumzad soobhany | my airbag light has come on it has been confirmed by bmw that it is the seat belt tensioner and its going 2 cost £300 approx to put right. im not paying that!!!! |

Second owner full TLC history, 37500 miles. |
| 22 | Anonymous | come on MINI - if it's a safety recall issue in the US surely it is here- or don't MINI UK care as much for their customers as MINI USA???? Thats the message we are getting loud and clear. |
| 23 | Steven Symonds | airbag warning light is on-haven't plucked up the courage to find out how much BMW will won't for a repair - it is ridiculous that items are covered by warrenty globally - it is the same car isn't it?? |
| 24 | darren sweeting | car not owned from new only came on today(30/12/06) reg lw52 efk |

| 27 | allan cooper | My 02 reg mini cooper has just developed this fault and as sugested only came on when I adjusted the seat recently. I have not as yet approached my dealer. |
| 28 | Brenda Wright | fault developed a couple of weeks ago, so I looked it up. Was bought second hand from Coopers, South East London |
| 29 | Paul Sweet | Hi I think the fact that is is a design fault and bmw in america have admitted the fact how bmw uk can dispute and deny giving us the same treatment
after all we pay alot more for our cars than customers in the uk!!! |
| 30 | Anthony Harrison | 2002 Cooper, 39,000 miles, Airbag fault in May 2006, repaired at Cooper Thames Ditton, paid full whack :-( light came on again December 06, now I have some more bargaining ammunition ;-) |
| 31 | Karen Cahill | Warning light initially came on whilst under warranty and was repaired. Car now out of warranty (51) 38k. I spoke to the dealer who said it could be one of many faults and would need to be left for investigation and repair. I was told that that once the light is on the the system defaults to 'off'. |
| 32 | John Bradley | April 2002 car and plagued with airbag light problems three times in last six months. |
| 33 | Anne-Marie | I really wish this would be sorted ASAP as it is a safety issue. I have been fobbed off too and really can't afford to pay the money they are asking! |
| 34 | Anne-Marie | Airbag light has been on since 37000 miles. |
| 35 | Dionne Cardwell | My warning light came on last week after I fully reclined the passenger seat to load a snowboard. I intend writing to BMW customer services before contacting my local dealer. Many thanks for the info on the forum. |
| 36 | Bill Foulkrod | The same defect affects BMW Z3s sold in the USA |
| 37 | Reza Ashtari | airbag light is on. trying the same in Belgium for fixing this problem |
| 38 | a plenty | my warning light came on yesterday for no reason wont go off!! |
| 39 | Stephen Johnson | |
| 40 | Roger Jack | I have a 2002 Mini Cooper S bought second hand in 2004.
In the last year I have had the airbag waring light come on 5 times. I have had to pay £125 each to get the wiring looms to both front seats replaced. The subsequent times it has been fixed free of charge...so far! |
| 41 | Ian Anderson | bought my 02 car second hand, airbag fault showed up shortly after, repaired under warranty. fault then reappeared 6 months later and cost £50.00 to reset. Yet again fault reappeared after about 6 weeks! and is now preventing me getting an mot so must pay to get same fault fixed again. |
| 42 | Warren Evans | I have a 02 cooper , I had the airbag light problem and took it to BMW and they gave me a courtesy repair . The light has never come on again after the first visit . Which has been over 12 months ago .
But had a power window isue , but they said that I would have to pay all costs to have that fixed ! |

| 44 | Daniel Davies | my 02 Cooper developed this problem about 6 months ago, had to get it done through bmw and paid through the nose for it! Am finally selling my MINI but would love them to extend the warranty so that other people in the future wont have to be ripped off in the same way many of us current owners have been! |
| 45 | Ross MacInnes | My 02 Mini Cooper has also recently started displaying the dreaded airbag warning light. It started after a repair at a local BMW garage from where I also found an inspection torch rolling around under the seat - which may have caused it - as a result it has gone back and been 'fixed' but it came back on this morning. Furious isnt the word. |
| 46 | Anonymous | My 02 Mini Cooper also has the airbag light on... seems to be a common problem with the 02 Minis which surely suggests it is a manufacturing fault and should be fixed free of charge by BMW. |

| 48 | Anonymous | I bought my 02 Cooper in April last year, luckily with a 1 year warranty. The airbag light has now gone off on the fifth time and on the last two times it happened within 3 days. So quite rightly I'm unhappy that I've spent a lot of cash on a supposedly quality car (BMW anyone?) and even more unhappy that I have to keep taking it to the BMW dealer to get it fixed.
On my last trip back to the garage the courtesy bus driver told me (and the woman next to me who had the same problem (LOL) that the airbag fault was the commonest fault with BMW Minis.
I'll never buy a Mini or BMW again - this problem is not only concerning but extremely annoying to me and is not helping the BMW brand at all. They need to fix this problem at source and redesign the airbag / seat belt tensioning system. I am selling my useless car in a few weeks and just before I do I'll be getting the airbag light temporarily fixed to enable me to claw back some money.
BMW need to be much more responsible and pro-active about this problem. A car to me is an investment and I chose the BMW / Mini brand as I believed that when I came to sell the car I could get a good return. If the light is on when I try to sell I could lose money, so thanks so much BMW! |
| 49 | Jon Ebrill | Recurring problem on 02 ONE, fixed twice under warranty, light came on again when friend slammed the seat back harshly;
BMW have accepted fault by agreeing to pay for the labour to replace the seat belt pre tensioner as a 'goodwill' gesture but want me to pay for the part ... |
| 50 | Melanie Holloway | Shortly after buying my 2001 Mini Cooper second hand the airbag light came on and has stayed on. Very annoying and I dont see why I should have to pay for it to be fixed as it seems a common fault. |
