Name: Nathan James on Dec 5, 2006Comments: My airbag light came on just before i set off for a 2 hr drive to cardif... booked my car in for a window motor replacement! (another common fault) and come out with my air bag light off even though the staff at my local dealership told me the light was on.... two days later after having one passenger in the back with one movement of the seat the light came back on again! this is rediculous and my dealership said that i would have to pay full price then put in for a good will claim... that will not get my money back for their fault!Flag

Name: Karen Cahill on Jan 6, 2007Comments: Warning light initially came on whilst under warranty and was repaired. Car now out of warranty (51) 38k. I spoke to the dealer who said it could be one of many faults and would need to be left for investigation and repair. I was told that that once the light is on the the system defaults to 'off'.Flag

Name: Ross MacInnes on Feb 1, 2007Comments: My 02 Mini Cooper has also recently started displaying the dreaded airbag warning light. It started after a repair at a local BMW garage from where I also found an inspection torch rolling around under the seat - which may have caused it - as a result it has gone back and been 'fixed' but it came back on this morning. Furious isnt the word.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 4, 2007Comments: My 02 Mini Cooper also has the airbag light on... seems to be a common problem with the 02 Minis which surely suggests it is a manufacturing fault and should be fixed free of charge by BMW.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 6, 2007Comments: I bought my 02 Cooper in April last year, luckily with a 1 year warranty. The airbag light has now gone off on the fifth time and on the last two times it happened within 3 days. So quite rightly I'm unhappy that I've spent a lot of cash on a supposedly quality car (BMW anyone) and even more unhappy that I have to keep taking it to the BMW dealer to get it fixed. On my last trip back to the garage the courtesy bus driver told me (and the woman next to me who had the same problem (LOL) that the airbag fault was the commonest fault with BMW Minis. I'll never buy a Mini or BMW again - this problem is not only concerning but extremely annoying to me and is not helping the BMW brand at all. They need to fix this problem at source and redesign the airbag / seat belt tensioning system. I am selling my useless car in a few weeks and just before I do I'll be getting the airbag light temporarily fixed to enable me to claw back some money. BMW need to be much more responsible and pro-active about this problem. A car to me is an investment and I chose the BMW / Mini brand as I believed that when I came to sell the car I could get a good return. If the light is on when I try to sell I could lose money, so thanks so much BMW!Flag

Name: Melanie Holloway on Feb 13, 2007Comments: Shortly after buying my 2001 Mini Cooper second hand the airbag light came on and has stayed on. Very annoying and I dont see why I should have to pay for it to be fixed as it seems a common fault.Flag
