Name: Ronnie Munro on Nov 10, 2011Comments: Mr Roberts and his family have tried very hard to provide wholesome entertainment to the British public for decades. Rather than receive any thanks praise or accolade for this the family have been victims of a smear campaign which has had unbalanced reporting in SOME sections of the media. Part of this smear has included the care and welfare of their animals. As this is one of the Roberts family's greatest points of pride it was an obvious point to attack by those who desire to harm the family name. Having seen these animals and having a sound knoweldge of horses in particular I have never at any time ever seen a horse or any animal under the care of Mr Roberts seem anything other than in the peak of health. If an animal is not relaxed and happy it is not possible for human and animal to work together. Thus every animal that has ever worked under Mr Roberts name has indeed been cared for extremely well by the family to optimise the well being of each animal. The disgraceful abuse that was administered to Anne the elephant by a deceitful former employee of Mr Roberts is utterly condemned by all , including Mr Roberts and family. The video of this abuse of an animal who was indeed a member of the Roberts family for some 40 years was clearly set up to discredit and damage Mr Roberts as a person and the business he has taken a lifetime to build up. There are far too many aspects of the video of the abuse to form any other conclusion than that the video was setup and the abuse on the elephant performed by the heavily disguised individual for no other purpose than to slander Mr Roberts and the welfare of any animal in his care the standard of which has been of the highest degree as was confirmed by the spoksperson for the Park were the elephant was rehoused. There has been a clear vindictive campaign against the Roberts Circus family for many years which has sadly been supported by a portion (not all) of the media rather than give a balanced report they have sadly been a part of the damage done to a hard working British family who have overcame , serious ill health, financial rescession and severe strain on family life all in an attempt to simply entertain and bring some happiness into peoples lives. This country has gone far enough down the road of punishing the innocent. If I thought or believed for a moment Mr Roberts would deliberatly harm any animal I would not be writing this. Neither he or any member of the Roberts family have neglected or harmed any animal in their care and do not deserve to be accused of such. Enough is enough there are sufficient people in Great Britain who will not tolerate any longer watching this Great British entertainment family torn apart in such an utterly unfair manner.Flag

Is it not perculiar that the grooms shown to ill-treat Anne, the elephant, actually misteriously disappeared the day before this incident was reported in the papers. I am an animal lover and am appalled by cruelty that I have witnessed over the years but never in the Roberts or any other circus. To-night on TV a cat was being thrown around by its tail in midair by a youth. Last week jockeys were brought to task for whipping their horses. I was employed by the Roberts family for 12 years and never witnessed anything untoward their animals. During my time with the circus it must have been inspected many hundreds of times by the RSPCA and SSPCA and never once have any problems of cruelty been raised.Flag
