Joy PearceMy daughter was diagnosed with DDH when she just was 6 weeks old, she is now 5 months old & has had 2 operations & is currently in her 2nd Hip Spica. I have had lots of problems getting her in & out of the car when no 'Parent & Child' spaces are available as the door needs to be wide open. There always seems to be plenty of Disabled spaces free (even in the smallest of car parks) but there are not always any (let alone empty) 'Parent & Child' spaces which makes getting out & about very difficult. I therefore whole heartedly support this campaign for parents of children with DDH.

Crystal PenningtonMy beautiful son is about to be fitted with a hip spica. It is a worrying and scary time.Something like a blue badge im sure would make life easier. Its wrong that this has to be fought for.

Anne ParryMy daughter was fitted with a plastic/foam hip brace when she was 12 months old the procedure didn't work. She has hip dysplasia. We were told two weeks ago she needs an operation the procedure is called 'salter pelvice osteotomy'. This will involve removing some of her pelvic bone and screwing it onto her hip socket. She will be in a spica cast for up to 3 months and will have to be taught to walk again which we are told will be very painful for her and could take up to 6 months. Maisy will be 3years old when she has this done on the 21st of October and I am told the likelyhood of us getting a blue badge for her or any other help are nil. Hope you win this bid.

carolinethis is a discrace to human rights..... children who are born disabled should be given automatically as a matter of course, a blue badge.i am fighting yet again for a blue badge for my son who is 4 with downsyndrome, life is a constent fight for every thing for disabled children, from applying for D.L.A to attending schools. its a bloody disgrace.......children should be automaticaly given these badges...ITS NOT THEIR FAULT IS IT? my son is deaf and a danger to himself, he will never drive a car and he cannot walk very far without falling over........ for chirst sake mr priminister do some good in this so called human rights country we live in.......
AnonymousI think its really important that kidddies with DDH are given blue badges its hard enough getting "NORMAL" children out of cars in small spaces let alone a child in a cast etc. My daughter was in a cast for 6mths and it was a nightmare which could have been made easier having a badge.
David Baileytemporary disability is temporary disability however long it lasts. Department of Transport, a part of government, they treat most people the same, totaly ignorant, all departments the same, never reply, they have no manners whatsoever, most of these people should be made to earn rheir money.

michelle wardi think this is disguating! they should be given a temporary blue badge and while they are at it, for those who don't drive like me should be given a free bus or train pass or a taxi voucher scheme! why should it just be the elderly who get all the benefits!! being old is NOT a disability its a way of life, yet being in a spica cast or brace is NOT a way of life its a neccesity for the kids!! good lick guys n gals! keep ur chin up! ;~p
AnonymousI'm shocked that this campaign has been neccessary!
sarah-jane chubbI was also born with both my hips dislocated a long time a go . The pedatrian did not check me the night i was born and three months later they found out i had dislocated hips My parents found it very ,very hard to carry me with frog plasters . And now later in life i still have major problems with my leg's . I cant believe all these years later ,Parents are having to endure all these problems and are having no help . Our governement should give parents etc who have children with these problems a blue badge with out having to endure all the extra stress they are having to go through

MichelleMy daughter had her hip operation on 1 May 2008, aged 11.5 months. She is to be in the spica for 16 weeks and could possibly require a further operation. I panick going shopping in case i dont get a parent and toddler car park space. I think it's an absolute joke that I have been refused a blue badge. How on earth do you get your child in to your car when there is a parked car right beside you.

emma dermottmy three year old also has hip dysplacia. she had one op when she was 14 months old and has to go back in three weeks time for another op. She'll have the spica cast on for 8 weeks this time, and oh god it's a night mare getting in and out of cars. Our local council does nothing to help us, so what can we do . Park in disabled bays and get fined????

AnonymousI have 17month old twin girls, one has cerebral palsy. I am unable 2 park my car in our own rd, and we are not even able to have a residents parking permit. I have to park my car about half a mile away and walk back to my home. This i feel this is just not fair.
Annemarie SmithI am a mother of a 15 month old girl with bi-lateral displaced hips and agree that the spica cast is bulky medical equipment. Our daughter went throught the closed reduction last year (this failed) and will have the open reduction on 19 sept 08 and although we now have some experience of what to expect I do believe a blue badge will make getting out and about easier when she requires to go Hospital appointments etc

Karen PughMy daughter was 8 before they discovered that she has Congenitaly Dysplasia of the Hip. She has since had 2 large operations and cannot walk for prolonged periods. A Blue Badge would be extremely helpful when we are out and about together.
