| 2101 | Lisa | I was born with the same condition as these two little girls and this was something which wasn't available to my parents some twenty odd years ago. Good luck to you all in you campaign. |

| 2105 | Anonymous | My daughter is 10 months old and has been in a hip splint in the frog position since she was diagnosed with DDH 3 months ago. Maneouvering her in and out of the car is difficult and can only be done when the doors can be opened fully. I'm hoping that a temporary blue badge can be awarded. |
| 2106 | Britany McDonald | My 9 month old daughter was diagnosed yesterday with hip dysplasia. We have an appt coming up to determine her treatment. She might have to wear a brace. |
| 2107 | LYN MILLER | I am signing this petition as my Son Kian was diagnosed with DDH when he was only 4 weeks old. He received several scans and x-rays over a 12 mth period whilst his hips were being monitored, eventually in October this year when he was just over 1 year old he was placed in the 'frog' cast which he will have to 'wear' until February of next year. He will then have another operation and placed in another cast for a further two months. This should hopefully correct the problem, a scan 6 weeks later will confirm things for us. I fully understand the reasoning behind this petition, as Mia's mum says the cast is extremly heavy and awkward, especially as i am only 4ft 9 and have a very small build, I struggle to carry Kian around for long periods of time and completely rely on his buggy, you can't always get a parent/child car space as there is not a lot of them and also there are people use these regardless of whether they have children or not and trying to manouvre Kian out of the car in a normal space is very difficult. I hope the government realise just how important this is to families of children with hip dysplasia and how lowering the age of who the blue badge can be issued to will really make a difference to us. |
| 2108 | Elizabeth Rimmer | As a sufferer of bi-lateral hip displacement since birth I find it shocking and horrifying that you where not given a blue badge for your daughter as I have always had access to one. I know how difficult it is even though it is not the most obvious of mobility issues it is just as painful andawkward as many others largely accepted, I hope you get the outcome you deserve. |
| 2109 | Faye Smith | My daughter is waiting to go into hospital for the traction, then the operation followed by 6 months in the spica cast. I am dreading it as I don't want to be house bound for 6 months I agree totally with this scheme and think a blue badge would be a massive help. Many Thanks |

| 2112 | Anonymous | For those who say that wider parent/child spaces are available and could be use for hip spica kids....think again! These spaces are abused frequently and there are very few available. |

| 2119 | jack leslie & margaret leslie | Our daughter had dislocated hips when born but through treatment suffered no lasting effects her second son Harry has one hip displaced and requires to be put into plaster, once this has happened it is not only the sitting him in the vehicle that causes problems but getting him out, the fact he is under 2 years old is irrelevant space is still required. I therefore urge that all efforts are made to allow these children to have a blue badge as they are as much disabled as as someone in a wheelchair if so not more as they are unable to help themselves because of their tender age |

| 2124 | Diane Rolye | Being a disabled person myself with a Blue Badge I can well appreciate the difficulty being experienced by these mothers and the children. If there is immobility then the badge is essential, it should be issued for periods of time until recovery is hopefully achieved. |

| 2139 | Lena Court | Having already lost one child to cancer and now being faced with repeated surgeries and spica casts for my daughter, I have had more than my fair share of difficulties in many matters, one of the most difficult being transport. Luckily, my son was old enough to have a blue badge, but my daughter isn't. I suffer from back problems and I understand these spica casts are heavy and awkward to carry our kids in, my daughter will be 18 months. I think it is very important that children in spica casts are entitled to a blue badge, they are disabled, they are wearing heavy, bulky equipment that is necessary for their condition. My daughters condition in complicated futher by Ligamentous laxity and several operations are likely, with a very long time in casts. Also she needs the surgery on both hips, but due to the complications, they can only do one hip at a time, which will draw the treatment out even longer. A blue badge would be very advantagous in these circumstances. |
| 2140 | Vince Pettit | My 1 year old daughter is having surgery in the morning. There doesn't seem to be enough help for parents. I think this would really help. |

Register your national rights as a valid disability card holder.
www.epcd.org.uk
Over 30 million people in the UK and Europe hold a disability parking permit of some type - the Blue Badge in the UK and the Disability Parking Card in most other European countries. BUT, there is NO national database of Blue Badge Holders. As bona-fide card holders know, having and being able to use the concession is not easy, other motorists park in reserved bays, use badges when the badge holder is not present in the car, swap badges between vehicles, use stolen, borrowed or copied badges and more....In shopping areas and supermarket car parks, better control becomes more vital. Although there are some efforts by state, transport and disabled associations, the problem has never properly been solved, until now.
The European Disability Parking Card Directory is a unique web site which allows you, or issuing local authorities to register your rights as a valid disability card holder. Register yourself, your blue badge or Disability Parking Card, vehicle(s) and driver(s). Upload (optionally) photos of yourself and driver(s)
Search the Directory as a member to confirm if a vehicle has a valid Disability Parking Card. Search from your PC, Laptop, Mobile or PDA (internet connection required)
Report Violators and let the reports by bona-fide member disability card holders "name and shame" those inconsiderate motorists who park in "our" reserved areas.
Identify Lost, stolen or forged parking badges - some reports suggest as much as 50% of disability parking is by people displaying invalid badges. Parking Wardens may have powers to "inspect" badges but lack all the facts to prove a parking badge is genuine, or bogus.
Membership is open to : Blue Badge and Disability Parking Card Holders - Supermarkets - Parking Wardens - Local Authorities - Disability Charities and Associations, in fact any person or organisation who or which controls, or has an active interest in disability parking across the UK, and Member EEC states, a total of 29 countries with over 30 million potential disability parking cards.
