My name is Helen Grindrod and I am mum to Emily who is 5 and Mia who is 20 months old.It\'s because of my youngest Daughters condition that I am petitioning. Not only for my daughter but for all others going through the same thing.I feel our children are being discriminated against because of their age.I don\'t know how long Mia will be disabled for,no one knows. There are regular cast changes and check ups along the way. Alot of children with hip dysplasia do end up having more operations further along the line.We just have to hope and pray that our children don\'t. An adult with a temporary disability can be left unattended while the car is being parked a child cannot.
I have teamed up with another local lady,Kelli who is mum to Jessica.
Jessica is 8 months old and is currently waiting for her operation.Jessica is only affected in her left hip, but will go through the same procedure as Mia and also the same aftercare with the casts. Jessica has already been in a harness for 6 weeks, which unfortunately was unsuccessful. The procedure is a week in traction in hospital, followed by the operation.
Jessica and her family are going to face the same struggles as Mia and her family and we all need your help.
Kelli
