Whereas, New Yorkers are outraged at the proposed citywide ban on any serving of sugary-sweet soda more than 16 ounces in restaurants, movie theaters and street carts. Whereas, New Yorkers are tired of the excessive fines, restrictions, and fees on our lifestyle. Whereas, New Yorkers agree obesity is a problem but disagree that a limitation on our personal freedom and liberty is the solution. Whereas, New Yorkers believe this to be "misguided" and "arbitrary" and "big brother." Whereas, New Yorkers and NYC Small Businesses do not need another fine, fee or another visit from the nyc tax collectors. Whereas, Local New York Businesses just want to left alone to serve the public and not be told what to do with another arbitrary and capricious regulation. Therefore, Be It Resolved, we supporters, registered voters, and all New Yorkers will oppose this Soda Ban and will call our city council members, sign petitions and organize until this Soda Tax is as dead as the Olde Stamp Tax.
