'India can bring back its trillions'

Courtesy:  TOI The government is not only facing the heat over the black money trail from the opposition parties, but it is now facing global pressure too to retrieve the billions of dollars stashed away in Swiss bank accounts. TIMES NOW spoke to several experts who are unanimous in saying that India must exert its influence to retrieve this untaxed money. This even as WikiLeaks gets ready to release about 2000 names of Swiss bank account holders -- details given to its founder Julian Assange by former banker and whistleblower Rudolf Elmer. Anouch Zerbib, French Taxation Expert said, "France has got all its money back. French tax authorities has identified € 6 billion in Swiss accounts and they have been able to get back € 700 million. But France had to talk to Swiss authorities and ensure there were no obstacles. A similar agreement was signed between India and Switzerland in 2010." "So India can now put pressure on Swiss...

102 fall victim to light drama - Ritual corruption taken away 102 lives

Courtesy: Deccan ChronicleThiruvananthapuram, Jan. 16: The so-called celestial Makaravilakku light in Sabarimala that evokes awe in devotees is created by officials who burn loads of camphor secretly at the Ponnambalemedu adjacent to the hill shrine and wave wet sacks over it to generate a twinkling effect. Officials, priests and even devotees in the know prefer that this hoodwinking is not publicised among lakhs of illiterate devotees from Kerala as well as other states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The hysteric reaction of crowds to Makaravilakku was one of the reasons for the stampede that occurred on Friday killing 102 persons and the one in 1999 that killed 50 persons. The Travancore Devaswom Board president, Mr Rajagopalan Nair, said most people knew the “truth” of the Makaravilakku and there was no need him to explain matters. “I think everyone knows what it is,” he said. In 1990, rationalists had exposed the charade by...

Cancellation of all 2G Licences

Re: Cancellation of all 2G Licenses  Dear Prime Minister:  This letter is in continuation of my earlier letters on the same subject.   There is now much evidence within your Government itself that Etisalat DB the new name for Swan Telecom and one of the favoured few which got the UASL 2G licenses for 15 circles in 2008 is a company that is a partner with the Pakistan Government’s Telecom  Company: the  PTCL (incidentally which is dominated by ISI - a pro-terrorist intelligence agency of the Pakistan army).  Etisalat is also connected to China’s PLA. Etisalat DB’s Shahid Balwas is a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim (the underworld ‘Don’ and criminal who is a proclaimed offender). Balwas is also close associate of one of your Cabinet Ministers.              These data are available with your Home Ministry. The Home Ministry has also information that...

India’s poverty amid plenty - courtey Khaleei Times

The New York Times has carried a rather interesting report by its correspondent on the widening chasm between its rich and poor, with particular focus on the government’s poverty alleviation measures. While a lot has been rightly said and written about India’s phenomenal march to economic superstardom, there is little focus on the faceless, impoverished multitudes in large states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and others. Despite the recent news stories highlighting the growth in India's economy, and the new wealth this is creating, the need to help India's children is becoming even more important. Child labour is a massive problem in India. Recently, an Oxford poverty index shocked the world by suggesting that India’s eight states are home to more poor people – a staggering 421 million – than poorest of the poor sub-Saharan African states. The country’s poverty and hunger indexes remain dismal, with roughly 42 per...

Sonia Gandhi's UPA appoints corrupt man to control corruption!

Courtesy: InternetIt looks as if the Congress party headed Sonia Gandhi is on a warpath to promote corruption in a big way. If not then how would one explain appointment of a person by name PJ Thomas the the Chief Vigilance Commissioner on India! Chief Vigilance Commissioner deals with the corruption cases in India and he himself was involved in a corruption case (palmolein export scam)! And he was the one who was the secretary of the telecom ministry when ex-minister A. Raja looted India of 1.76 lakh crores! The supreme court today also slammed the UPA government led by Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi over this appointment. And not surprisingly, the Sonia Gandhi led UPA supported this appointment and the Attorney General GE Vahanvati even went into the extent of say that the SC should not dictate terms to the government! It looks as if Sonia Gandhi wants a 'friendly' corrupt officer as the CVC so that the people like Suresh Kalmadi, A. Raja etc are left...

India's Black Money & Swiss Accounts

Courtesy: InternetExperts estimate the size of black income at 50 per cent of the GDP and have enjoined upon the government to crack the whip on black marketeers and Indian's having secret accounts abroad. Describing this as the single biggest cause of policy failure, they say this leads to a five per cent loss in growth rate to the nation. For instance, if India's GDP is assumed at seven per cent in FY10, then the real GDP growth would be about 12 per cent if the black money were to be converted into white. They also estimate that 10 per cent of the savings are taken out of the country. The top three per cent of the population control most of the black money. These alarming figures were dished out at a seminar here recently, where the participants included Dr Arun Kumar, Professor of Economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University and author of the celebrated book 'The Black Economy in India', Mr Arun Kejriwal, Magsaysay award winner and 'Right to...

Supreme Court would play a “decisive role” in bringing black money back to India

Courtesy Deccan Chronicle:BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani on Monday hoped that the Supreme Court would play a “decisive role” in bringing black money stashed in tax havens abroad. Writing on the issue on his blog, Mr Advani has also raised the corruption issue, including the 2G spectrum allocation scam. He has also mentioned that India is yet to ratify the international convention against corruption. “Pending before the Supreme Court is a writ petition filed by senior advocate Ram Jethmalani and five other eminent citizens, including Subhash Kashyap and K.P.S. Gill. The petition aims at forcing government to bring back India’s wealth stashed away in tax havens overseas,” Mr Advani has written. “I hope in a matter linked up with this problem of corruption the Supreme Court will once again play a decisive role,” he added. On the corruption issue, Mr Advani has given credit to the Supreme Court, Parliament and the...

Very interesting facts about Sonia

http://rajivsonia.blogspot.com/How Sonia became “Indian”  In 1980 her name appeared in the voter's list for New Delhi prior to her becoming an Indian Citizen. At the time she was still holding Italian Citizenship. A violation of Form 4 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, which states that "Only the names of those who are citizens of India should be entered on the electoral rolls." When she did acquire Indian Citizenship, in April 1983, the same issue cropped up again, as her name appeared on the 1983 voter's list when the deadline for registering had been in January 1983. Sonia’s connection with Swiss accounts  Swiss magazine Schweitzer Illustrierte in 1991 claimed that she was controlling accounts worth $2 billion dollars(Rs 9400 Crores)  in her minor son's name.
