Delay closure of Blackfriars Theatre, Boston,

506 Signatures Goal: 1,000

Forty years ago, the ruins of a mediaeval priory were resurrected by people of Boston who rolled up their sleeves and excavated the foundations, laid bricks, poured concrete and, of course, gave money, to build Blackfriars Theatre for the amateur societies of Boston, Lincolnshire. The Arts Centre was given to the Trustees, who have recently made the decision to sell the Theatre without any public consultation, or any request to the people of Boston for help or advice. This petition calls on the Trustees to reconsider their decision, and at least give the people of the town the chance to save their theatre for use as an amateur venue, until a suitable replacement is built at some unspecified time in the future.
