We have written this petition as a year group to raise our current concerns regarding the recent short answer question paper (year one Biomedical science). Unfortunately, many of us feel that the paper was not entirely representative of the course material, and did not enable us to fully demonstrate our knowledge that we have worked hard to develop over the year. We felt that perhaps some of the individual questions were too specific and failed to assess our integrative capabilities. Our main aims are to ensure that you are aware of this and also to ask politely for leniency in marking the papers with our apprehension in mind. We would also like to suggest that it would be very greatly appreciated for future years to have more transparent lecture aims, along with a greater stock of practice questions to support us in our revision. We fully understand that we were required to read around the subject and agree that a proportion of the questions should test this, but overall feel this encompassed a greater amount of the paper than expected when comparing the previous years paper. We hope that we haven't caused any offence, as we realise university exams aren't easy, but considering the overwhelming response among our peers, we felt it necessary to raise our concerns. Thank you for your time. Year one students
