Dear Mr Bennett,

As Palo Alto area cyclists, we were dismayed to hear your comments to Palo Alto City Council that “bikes hurt supermarkets.”

We use our bikes to go to work and school, to run errands, buy groceries, and for other everyday purposes. We love to shop at local businesses to support the local community and economy, and because its healthier and better for the environment. Most of us also own automobiles.

We are many of your loyal customers.   And whenever we do errands by bike, we spare a valuable parking spot for a driver.

Please reconsider the impact that bicycles and pedestrians have on local businesses.
