Many cities around the world have bike racks on the front of buses.
This has several advantages to the community.
1. Increases Bicycle accessibility to the CBD by providing a safe way to enter the CBD.
2. Increased Accessibility to buses. People living off bus routes can cycle to the bus. In cities where bike racks are installed on buses it is reported that a significant proportion of new bus users are cyclists.
3. Decrease in pollution in the CBD.
4. A more sustainable city using less fossil fuel.
5. Less traffic congestion in the city.
6. A fitter city. Australia is the second most obese country in the world. Exercise is also known to reduce stress.
7. Increased cycling tourism where buses access tourist destinations. |
