55% of all bicycle accidents, in vancouver, occur in intersections. 30% of these involve right hand turns. When accidents occur between cyclists and motorist, the cyclist loses 100% of the time. By signing this petition you are supporting our movement to have the city of Vancouver install green bike boxes at major lighted intersections that run along bike routes. A bike box is a safe zone for cyclists to stop at during a red light. Cars stop behind the bike box allowing cyclists traveling straight through the intersection the right of way over cars making right hand turns.
