Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School District 1st Day of School 2010-11

The first day of school for 2010-11 in the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School District is scheduled for Thursday, September 9th. This day is also Rosh Hashanah, one of the most important Jewish Holidays. It is comparable to scheduling the first day on Christmas or Easter. We feel this should be remedied by rescheduling the first day of school to another day.

If you are a parent of a BHBL student, please join us in showing your support of moving the first day of school to another day by signing this petition. Every signature makes a difference!

The collected signatures will be presented to the BHBL Board of Education at the June 22nd meeting.  Thank you so much for your support!!!

***Pls do not sign "anonymous" as we need to provide a list of actual BHBL parents for this to make a difference.  Thanks!!***

Comments: I am very glad to see this petition. I had intended to write a letter to Mr. Schultz. Even if I am the only family this affects, this is not an appropriate first day of school. Every year, my children lose two days, sometimes three (with Yom Kippur) from their attendance, and I have never before complained. The school is closed on Good Friday. This should not even have been a question.
