Name: Anonymous on Sep 1, 2011Comments: I've recently moved to the Western Isles, and I am surprised at the lack of consistent, high-speed connection here. Our family is very lucky to have, generally, very good internet service, but this seems mainly an accident of geography. I've heard from many more people who must make do with very poor (or no) access. This certainly has the effect of holding back small business in the islands, as it prevents businesses from developing a strong online presence, and also discourages telecommuting, etc.Flag

Maybe we could start a charity which would work to provide internet access to everyone. I use the net at home for work, and its a real problem when my generally very slow connection goes down.Flag

Could be a lot fairer.Flag

Name: Suzy Kelly on Nov 25, 2011Comments: It took over 6 weeks to have broadband installed in our home in North Uist. It is patchy service and slow speed. However, it is better than nothing. As a full time student from home with health disabilities, home broadband is essential for me. I am not able to attend live lectures due to the slow speed and interruptions to service. Better broadband means a better quality of life to me.Flag
