Every year people of color in America are trialed and convicted of trumped up charges, police brutality, and falsified claims. The results not only contribute to violence within communities of color, but are apart of the bigger picture of the prison industrial complex. This system could be severely derailed by the actions taken by our State government and police departments. Through trust and communication, police departments can build upon relations in their communities. Mutual respect and support are essential in the training of police officers to create a new era of relations throughout the country. We as Michigan State University students and residents call for government for better community policing in state of Michigan. Residents in our communities should no longer be victims of police bias. Help us take action!
