Name: Alicia Burns on Nov 17, 2006Comments: Closing any one of our CHS facilities, hospital or any other facility, would be a significant tragedy to our patients as well as to our employees. I am an employee as well as a patient of CHS facilities and therefore I realize what a tremendous assett our CHS facilities are to everyone in WNY.Flag

Name: Jerilyn Bachowski on Nov 17, 2006Comments: To close any of the hospitals in Western NY would put people in jeopardy, especially East of the city of Buffalo, because the closest facility would be downtown. Minutes count during an acute emergency such as a heart attack or a stroke. During times of emergency, such as the October snowstorms, there were not enough hospital beds to accommodate all of the patients in the region. As an employee of the Catholic Health System, I know that my employer has done it's part by closing 3 of it's hospitals and several nursing homes. With an aging population in this region, it is critical that we can meet the needs of the community, especially in an emergency situation. Also, our proximity to the Canadian border and Niagara Falls leaves this area more vunerable to terrorist attacks. To close any of the facilities in this area would be devastating to this community. Please reconsider. Thank you.Flag
