Comments: This project is long over due! Because of bureaucratic nonsense this architectural treasure has been almost lost to the people of Putnam County. My wife and I have watched this wonderful keystone whither away for years and we are delighted there is group willing to save her and we are proud to be part of it.

Comments: I think, just on aesthetic grounds alone, this house should be preserved. I think it's beautiful and in an exceptionally good location: accessible, especially in the sense of being viewable (enjoyable) easily by a lot of people and not in the way of anything. (With this and the few similar sites that still exist, we can keep all we need to to presereve the important inherent values of this area.)

Comments: I would very much like to perserve the Beldon house, we should try and keep the little heritage we have left. I'm sure we could find a better use than someone making more condo's.

Comments: Having lived in Putnam County for nearly 13 years I still consider it "home". Please preserve this structure. Europeans don't dismiss their heritage, they embrace it. They don't tear down. And if we are fortunate enough to travel to Europe we see their (and our) heritage. Save this house.

Comments: As a former history teacher, I would enthusiastically support any effort to preserve local history. Preserving the Belden House would create a space that kids and teachers could travel to to experience life as it was -- outside our present model of MTV, internet blogs, i-pods, etc.

Comments: As a member of the Putnam Land Trust and a resident of Mahopac who has grieved at the decay of Belden House on a nearly daily basis, I wish to urge officials to do whatever is possible to preserve and restore this historical structure. Putnam cannot develop at the expense of its history and unique character.
