The designation is official and our neighborhood is finally protected. It has been a long and draining road to pull this off but seeing our history secured makes it feel worthwhile. We need to stay alert to ensure these new rules are respected moving forward.
Distinguished Chairman Robert Tierney, Bedford Stuyvesant have several landmarked buildings; however, we need comprehensive protection of the neighborhood to preserve the historic and cultural fabric of one of Brooklyn’s more significant collection of Brownstones and Townhouses. I urge you to swiftly designate Bedford Corners Historic District in order to ensure the preservation of these structures for the benefit of future generations. Sincerely,
The bureaucratic silence from the commission is draining but I am holding onto the stories you keep leaving in the comments about these brownstones. I am spending my evenings gathering documentation to prove what we already know about the value of our streets. We are not walking away from this fight.
