Name: Sandra Banfield on Jul 28, 2010Comments: Please stop the infilling in the bedford basin...and save the only existing natural shoreline on the western side of the basin. This natural tidal reef and pool teems with marine life, and the shoreline in this area is home to migratory birds. Also there is a large wooded area that is home to other wildlife. Lets protect this beautiful habitat !Flag

Name: Jennifer Graham on Jul 28, 2010Comments: I realize HRM cannot actually make a moratorium on ths infill - after all the don't have juridisction over the water lots. They could request DFO to investigage, the could ask the Minister of Enviroment to stop the infilign pending an environmnetnal asesment study, they could ask DRN to stop the wrok to protect the wildlife habitat. They coudl zone so that no residentiail dwellings at all could be build on infill. In short, I'm asking HRM to work hrder to save the lsat remaiing shorelien in that protiong of the Bedford Basin.Flag

Name: Karen Peterson on Jul 29, 2010Comments: Please stop the work. There are other areas to build that won't cause the devastation that this would. We are living in a time where everyone talks about living green and preserving the environment and I am asking that you get on board with this way of thinking.Flag

Name: Heidi Verheul on Jul 29, 2010Comments: I want development in HRM. I want smart development that includes more sustainable infrastructure, better use of the land that has already been developed, and protection for natural habitats that the public can access and enjoy. Natural spaces in communities are essential components for healthy development, active living, stress reduction, and increased immune function. Forward thinking planning that protects vulnerable ecosystems would save dollars in health care in the long run. Stop filing the harbour in.Flag

Name: Eleanor Travis on Jul 29, 2010Comments: This development phase for the Bedford Water Front goes beyond greed, environmental wisdom, caring and common sense. Bedford Basin is a sacred domain for residents who have chosen to live near its shores and for all nature that calls the Basin home. The first phases of development were controversial, but they proceeded and are now accepted. Much of the Basin was lost for that development. However, it now provides homes for the upper class and, of greatest importance, it provides for the public some access to the Basin and its beauty with boardwalks, a park and play area. It is my belief that this is the end of need to give public access to the Basin. Further development will only cause massive destruction of eco systems, more traffic and congestion, and the replacement of a beautiful water scene with concrete, steel and glass. Go elsewhere with you greed and thirst for tax dollars and profits. Bedford has already made too many compromises for you, the developers and government. Leave us some shred of beauty and peace. Name: Kristen Clarke on Jul 31, 2010Comments: Please stop the Bedford Basin Waterfront Development project and focus on saving our natural coastlines and wildlife. Most of this generation is not focused fully on building developments and greed, but they are trying to teach our children about the environment and saving what we currently have for coastlines and natural species, we don't want our children to learn this from pictures in a textbook when they have it naturally in their community. Stop the corporate greed!!!Flag
