Recently, on Facebook, the concept of "beautiful teen contests" has become popular. The idea of teens posting photos onto the walls of these "contests" is viral, but very disturbing. We find this very, very offensive and degrading. We live in a society where teens feel the need to receive approval from others in order to feel beautiful. Contests like these on Facebook only add to this idea and may be very harmful on a teen's self-esteem. Many teens have posted photos on these walls for strangers (including pedophiles) to see, comment on, and "like". This is disgusting and downright wrong. With this petition, we want these degrading pages on Facebook to be removed. We also want Facebook to no longer allow pages like these to be developed.
