The district administration has officially issued a directive to restore the use of B.C. and A.D. terminology in our classrooms. We have secured a meeting with the curriculum board to monitor the implementation of this policy. Thank you for maintaining focus on this objective until the final decision was reached.
It has come to attention of many parents that numerous teachers throughout the Rockwood School district are teaching our students to use the terms B.C.E. (Before Common Era) and C.E. (Common Era) in lieu of B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini).
We, the undersigned taxpayers of the Rockwood School District, request that the Rockwood School District continue to use the terms B.C. (Before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini) as indicators of historical time periods rather than B.C.E. (before common era) and C.E.(common era).
We believe the use of "B.C.E." and "C.E." is inconsistent with the traditions and principles upon which our country was founded.
We are approaching five hundred signatures and need to reach this threshold before I present our formal request to the school board. This specific count establishes the necessary baseline for our meeting with district administrators.
