Parker is a valuable resource and should be given her choice of assignments. Her value is not just to one school, but to the entire county.Flag

Name: Kate D on Aug 2, 2010Comments: Kelly Parker is an amazing band director, and has a great way with motivating students. She has accomplished a lot with the band, and because of her the BCHS band has become known to many. Moving her would only hurt the students. Keep Kelly!!!Flag

Name: Richard Karaczun on Aug 2, 2010Comments: From all the way from Southern New Jersey comes a supporter for Kelly Parker. My daughters have/are in the band while attending Barron Collier High School and I believe that while Kelly has been the School Band Director during their time, my daughters have not only excelled musically, but academically as well. Yes, she is very demanding as I have been to Naples on occasion to visit my daughters participate at practices, football games, parades and concerts. But hard work does pay dividends. It is because of her dedication (and the students) that the band has been able to secure many trips out of the area (Including the recent trip to China and London later this year). Just like certain musical groups in our country have become legends and icons, Kelly Parker is an icon not only as a School Band Director to her students and Barron Collier High School but to Collier County and beyond. Barron Collier has a very solid reputation across our country and to transfer her out is like letting the air out of a balloon. Visiting my daughters over the years is a highlight every time for me but right behind that is seeing them participate and develop musically as I have no doubt the single reason why is because of Kelly Parker. This event should not have taken place and she should be reinstated immediately! Richard KaraczunFlag

Research the runiing, policy and procedures of the Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, GA governments, and LEARN something!Flag

Name: Katrina Cowan on Aug 2, 2010Comments: I wasn't even in band, but this decision was poorly executed. Mrs. Parker was an inspiration to the entire school. I was in chorus, and only knew her from the music hallway. She was respectable, kind, motivated, and spirited. The students will be let down... which is obvious already. We all know she didn't do enough wrong to deserve this. Im in absolute opposition to this decision that was made by certain individuals, whose interest is clearly in something other than the well-being of the students.Flag

Name: Lisa Diaz on Aug 2, 2010Comments: This is a wonderful lady with good values who actually cares about her students. Pulling her away from the band on such short notice is reckless and has devastated many students of the past and present. I've never seen a teacher who TRULY cares about her students. Many of her students have gone onto college to study music. They have gone on to serve our wonderful country in the military. They have made something of their lives and they all credit her. If the C.C. School Board truly cares about their students, they will reinstate her immediately.Flag

When my daughter took her WEST TEST (Florida equivalent of FCAT, she was recognized by John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. Her Collier County teachers laid the foundation for her brilliant education. It has come to my attention that many of these teachers are no longer teaching because they were FORCED to retire. Huge loss for Collier County Schools and your children. Get it together Collier County, you are loosing one of your greatest resources!Flag
