BC Election Platform: Regulate the price of fuel in BC or don't get elected.
Fuel prices in BC are out of control and are adversely effecting the
residents of this province. The ripple effect of the price of fuel is
so wide that it touches almost everything we do. The pain is not
reserved solely for the pump. Everything we buy that must be
transported by freight, and services provided through taxation will have
seen an jump in price as a result of these ridiculous and unjustified
increases. The tractor that plows the field, the trucks that bring
produce to markets, fishing boats, clothing retailers, snowplows,
emergency services, ferries, bus services and municipal fleets are all
examples of where cost of fuel increases are passed along to be incurred
by the taxpayer and consumer.
The next BC Election is on May 14, 2013. Let this petition serve notice
to all would-be public servants seeking election that fuel prices
matter to the residents of British Columbia. Simply put, there's no
more to give. We expect that fuel prices will be legislated in British
Columbia within 90 days of the election and that the newly elected
Provincial Government will, as the elected representatives of the
residence of BC, have campaigned in good faith in this regard, prior to
taking office.
Any party campaigning that will ensure that the price for regular
gasoline will never exceed $0.95/liter, and the price of diesel will
never exceed $1.00/liter will receive my vote in the May 14th, 2013 BC
Provincial Election with the understanding that the new legislation will
take effect within 90 days of the newly formed government taking
office.
