To the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)Trustees Lord Patten, Diane Coyle, Sonita Alleyne, Richard Ayre, Anthony Fry, Alison Hastings, David Liddiment, Bill Matthews, Aideen McGinley, Elan Closs Stephens, Suzanna Taverne and Lord Williams We the Undersigned hope this online petition awakens You to Our disillusionment regarding the breaking of the implicit trust and confidence by You, the Corporation with Us, the People. The BBC Charter clearly states that "the BBC exists to serve the public interest" (page 2, point 3) and that the BBC will be "independent in all matters concerning the content of its output, the times and manner in which this is supplied..." (page 3, point 6). It is regretful that the BBC no longer feels the need to cling onto its Charter. It is regretful that the BBC has continually failed to implement corrective measures once We the People have notified You of our discontent. This specific petition is regarding the constant failings, bias and misinformation churned out by the BBC's Journalism in general and the Israeli and Palestinian conflict in particular. David Cromwell and David Edwards from Media Lens make the following observation "The Israeli attacks have routinely been reported as 'retaliation' for Palestinian ‘militant rocket attacks’ on southern Israel. In a study of news performance in 2001, the Glasgow Media Group noted that Israelis ‘were six times as likely to be presented as “retaliating” or in some way responding than were the Palestinians.’ A BBC correspondent in Gaza said ‘there are now fears now (sic) of a major escalation of violence’. But the Israeli execution of Ahmed al-Jabari was a major escalation of violence. BBC News reported three Israeli deaths by rockets fired from Gaza with the briefest mention of the earlier deaths of ‘eleven Palestinians - mainly militants but also children’. As ever, there was no explanation of how a Gaza civilian is distinguished from a ‘militant’ (16/09/12) There are many other examples substantiating the above accusation. We the People thus do hereby declare that we free ourselves from the BBC. Our opinions are not reflective of the BBC's opinions. Our interests are not the interests of the BBC. We the People hereby do declare that we will no longer pay, with Our hard earned money, for You to propagate Your own agenda. Henceforth we refuse to pay the BBCs subsidiary the "TV Licensing" agency. We will no longer use our devices to receive television programmes at the same time (or virtually the same time) as it is received by License Fee paying members of the public . Our television sets are installed and used solely for purposes other than watching or recording live television programmes (e.g. closed-circuit TV monitor, DVD or video player, digital radio receivers, games consoles, on-demand channels (e.g. BBC iPlayer when the programme is NOT live). We the People do hereby declare that we revoke from the TV Licensing agency, implied right of access to Our Properties. We the People hope that the loss of your revenue forces You to rethink Your contract with Us and creates a change that will be both beneficial for Us and for You. Yours Sincerely The undersigned
