Name: Richard Perez on Jun 4, 2003Comments: Its about time the licence fee was abolished. Time and time again we hear how the BBC wastes the money gathered from this tax. They should do as the other channels do and go out and earn the necessary money to run themselves. The fact that the BBC relies on this money also means that it has to answer to the licence payers, which it is not doing. It is a law unto itself. Get rid of this TV TaxFlag

Name: Robin Scott on Jun 4, 2003Comments: I have had enough of the anti British and very anti English view that the BBC takes. I want the truth not some biased left wing propaganda which is all that seems to be put out. I especially object to paying for the priviledge when I have long since given up watching BBC TV in favour of any other channel. It is lng after time that thieves like the Chancellor were publicly questioned about their roles in the penisona dn endownment crises and I would have thought the BBC would be the place to do it, instead they are allowed to tell any lie they like and are rarely challenged.Flag

Name: David Barrett on Jun 4, 2003Comments: The BBC are blatantly advertising and getting away with it.watch jeremy clarkson on top gear every sunday.for past TWO weeks he has advertised outright ice creams by name and chocolate bars by name (about 6 last week). So why should they have it both ways colect from us and products advertised. IF i remember they were warned some time ago about placement advertising, but nothing has been done to stop the pigs. Somebody wants to chase this up and pull the plug on blairs bias corporation.Flag

Name: Jonathan Miller on Jun 4, 2003Comments: The BBC is compelling payment for services that millions do not want and millions more cannot even receive. I favour public broadcasting that is accountable to viewers and listeners - not to the ministers who set the licence fee. My own trial for declining to pay the TV licence is likely to be in Guildford in September. I will let everyone know the dates. I am asserting that the fee is incompatible with the Human Rights Act. I will be posting my derfence statement on this web site in due course. I thank all those who have expressed and given their support. Eventually we will win this battle - the only issue is when.Flag

Name: Paul Cartwright on Jun 4, 2003Comments: The BBC has no right to a priviliged position as a state broadcaster able to demand money from us all. It should be made to compete equally with all other broadcasters for viewers and funding. It no longer provides anything for the general benefit of the population which other broadcasters do not provide, and many of these other broadcasters provide better services than the BBC despite not having access to the resources the BBC has. BBC programmes are no longer even free of advertising, it is just they continuously advertise themselves but this is just as annoying an interruption to viewing and listening as the commercials on other channels and radio stations. In the 21st Century, Britain just should not have a broadcaster which is inherently part of the establishment like the BBC. It is an anachronism which needs to be ended as soon as possible.Flag
